Montana Farm Bureau continues celebrating its centennial this year with its summer conference theme, “Harvesting Our History; Cultivating Our Future.” The MFBF Summer Conference will be held June 11-13 at the GranTree Inn in Bozeman. This is a time when advisory committees meet to discuss current agricultural issues and concerns and surface ideas for policy development.

Keynote speakers are from the state’s land grant institution, Montana State University. Dr. Gary Brester, Department of Economics, will provide an entertaining speech focusing on our shared history, growth and changes of 100 years with MFBF and MSU. The luncheon keynote speaker is Dr. Sreekala Bajwa, MSU’s Vice President of Agriculture.

The Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee, Women’s Leadership Committee, MFBF Board of Directors and MFB Foundation will hold meetings Tuesday with the YF&R Committee planning an educational ag tour in the afternoon for its members.

Wednesday’s breakout session speakers will cover technology, private property rights and advocacy, as well as what’s going on with hemp in Montana.  A highlight of the morning will be “movie time” where members can watch MFBF’s and American Farm Bureau’s centennial videos. The advisory committees will meet in the afternoon, followed by the MFB Foundation’s “Back in Time” Fundraising Dinner at the Big Yellow Barn, a perfect historic location for the event.

On Thursday, members have the option to participate in MFB Foundation Golf Tournament at Bridger Creek Golf Course or enjoy tours of Resonon, Inc, manufacturer of precision ag tools along with Gallatin Valley Botanical Farms and Cowboy Crickets.

“What better way to celebrate 100 years of Montana Farm Bureau than to have our summer conference where it all began in 1919,” noted MFBF President Hans McPherson. “The Montana Farm Bureau Summer Conference provides a great way for our members to learn about new technologies, talk about commodity concerns and reconnect with farming and ranching friends from across Montana. We invite everyone to come out and share in our centennial celebrations.”
