Yesterday’s passage of the House farm bill received praise from the Montana Farm Bureau.

“As a farm organization that has been watching the development of the Farm Bill closely, we are ecstatic,” said MFBF President Hans McPherson. “This version of the farm bill, called the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018, is aptly named because the majority of funding is used to provide food for people in need.”

McPherson noted that a smaller percentage of the bill provides American farmers and ranchers with a safety net for weather related and other events beyond their control so they can continue to produce the highest quality, safest and most abundant food in the history of the world.

“The vote was 213-211. We had believed it would passed easily since it’s good for all Americans,” McPherson said. “We thank Congressman Greg Gianforte for his “yea” vote, and hope it sees bi-partisan success in the Senate.”
